This post shall be about the my latest project: the marine crescent. I am in the process of remodelling one of the the main character's face. Apart from trying to improve her topology, I am also attempting to make her a little more charming. When modelling in putty or clay, there is always the moment when I fall in love with my character. It can happen within the first four hours, but often it happens after a day or two of hard labor. There is something almost divine but uncomfortable about that instant. I call it the frankenstein moment. Your puppet comes to life and begins to exist in its own right: It will be loved and hated by the world, it will inspire and offend. I know I will continue to love and fight for it, but mostly in vain. This is also the time to let go as you release your little creation to the world and it no longer belongs to you.
I wish it was the same in 3D, but until now it is a lot less intuitive for me. This is the first draft. I will do another model without eyes and mouth like my drawing soon.
